VRemin (A Virtual Theremin) is a music simulation app for SteamVR on Windows, released for the HTC Vive, in which the player plays a virtual theremin on a virtual concert stage using tracked motion controllers. It is listed on Steam by the studio hOSHI as both developer and publisher, under the current store title "VRemin (Virtual Reality Theremin)".[1] Steam gives a release date of 6 February 2017 and a price of US$0.99.[1] The Japanese outlet Mogura VR, which names Heiko Ihde as developer, listed a release date of 19 January 2017 and a price of 98 yen in an article of 20 January 2017.[2] The hOSHI website describes Ihde as the studio's founder and chief executive.[3]

Reviewed 9 October 2026. Checked the Steam listing (app 582210), Steam review counts, Mogura VR's 2017 listing and the hOSHI website against the lead, overview and reception text. About review dates.

Overview

The app is a simulation rather than a game with goals: the player stands on a virtual concert hall stage and plays a theremin, an electronic instrument played without touching it. Steam lists four oscillators to choose from, adjustable pitch and range, a choice of instrument color, and support for left-handed and right-handed play, in which the instrument can be turned around. A metronome and an optional concert hall reverb are also included.[1] Mogura VR likewise describes four oscillators with different sound qualities and classes the app as a simulation.[2]

Steam lists the app as VR only with tracked controller support, and gives its VR requirement as SteamVR in standing or room-scale mode.[1] Mogura VR gives the play area as room-scale.[2] The store description says more features might be added in the future.[1]
