Vuzix is a company in New York that sells waveguide-based head-mounted displays. It has developed waveguide-based optical see through glasses touted as having augmented reality capability.

Vuzix was previously named Icuiti.

Vuzix is a publicly traded company. Intel bought about a 30 percent stake in Vuzix for about 25 million dollars.[1]

Technology

Vuzix makes their waveguides using a surface relief method, based on a process developed by Nokia.[8]

The combiner in the Vuzix Blade is made of two waveguides pressed together: one for the blue-green and one for green-red portions of the visible spectrum.[8]
