The Meta Quest 3S is an entry-level standalone mixed reality head-mounted display developed by Reality Labs (Meta), announced September 25, 2024 and released October 15, 2024 at $299. The affordable complement to Meta Quest 3, featuring the same Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor, full-color passthrough, and Touch Plus controllers, but with lower-resolution Quest 2-inherited displays (1832x1920 per eye) and Fresnel optics. Succeeded Quest 2 at its price point.

History and Development

Meta unveiled the Quest 3S at Meta Connect on September 25, 2024, releasing October 15, 2024 to replace the Quest 2 at the entry-level price point. Sharing the Quest 3's Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor and mixed reality capabilities, the Quest 3S trades display quality (using Quest 2's panels and Fresnel lenses) for affordability. Batman: Arkham Shadow was a featured launch title, available as Quest 3/3S exclusive.[1]
