The XREAL One Pro is a premium pair of augmented reality (AR) smart glasses created by XREAL (formerly Nreal). Announced on 4 December 2024 and highlighted at CES 2025, the One Pro is positioned as the flagship of the company’s “XREAL One Series”.[1][2] It debuts a custom flat-prism optical engine, the in-house X1 spatial computing chip, and offers **one of the widest optical see-through fields of view in any consumer headset at launch (57°)**.[1][7] First customer shipments began in late April 2025 after a store-wide shipping update.[3] The device was recognised as a CES 2025 Innovation Awards Honoree.[10]
History
Announcement
XREAL unveiled the One Series (One and One Pro) ahead of CES 2025, calling the glasses “the world’s first cinematic AR display with an independent spatial-computing chip.”[11] The Pro model drew attention for its 57-degree FoV, 120-Hz refresh rate and electro-chromic lens dimming. Hands-on demos at CES confirmed the switch from a traditional bird-bath lens to a flat-prism design.[7]
Release
Pre-orders opened worldwide on 4 December 2024. After revising its schedule, XREAL stated that One Pro units would **ship from late April 2025, with deliveries extending into May**.[3]
Design and Hardware
Optics and Display Technology
The One Pro employs an 11 mm-thick custom flat-prism waveguide that expands the diagonal FoV to 57° while cutting enclosure volume by ~40 % versus the bird-bath design in the standard One.[7][1] Each eye uses a 0.55-inch Sony Micro-OLED panel (1 920 × 1 080 @ 120 Hz) with a perceived peak brightness of ~700 nits.[5][1] Units are factory-calibrated to ΔE < 3 for colour accuracy.[6] Three-level **electro-chromic dimming** (Clear, Shade, Theatre) is controlled by an on-glass button.[6] The virtual screen can appear up to 171 inches diagonal.[2]

X1 Spatial-Computing Chip
The X1 proprietary co-processor handles pose prediction, display stabilisation and distortion correction on-device, enabling native 3DoF tracking with ~3 ms motion-to-photon latency at 120 Hz.[1][6] It also powers Anchor and Follow display modes and an ultrawide 32:9 viewing option.[6]
Audio System
Open-ear drivers in each temple are tuned under the “Sound by Bose” programme, complemented by a quad-mic beam-forming array for calls and voice assistants.[1][6]
Ergonomics and Build
The magnesium-alloy frame weighs 87 g (no battery) and is offered in two IPD-specific sizes for better edge-clarity: M (57–66 mm) and L (66–75 mm).[1][4]
Features
- **Wide FoV & high refresh** – 57° at 120 Hz.[1]
- **Dual IPD frame sizes** widen the viable user range.[4]
- **TÜV Rheinland 5-Star Eye Comfort** plus Low Blue-Light and Flicker-Free certificates.[9]
- **Electro-chromic dimming** in three steps for bright, mixed and dark rooms.[6]
- **Display modes (X1-powered)**
* *Anchor* – screen fixed in space (~3 ms latency).[1] * *Follow* – screen follows head movement.[5]
- **Ultrawide Mode** – virtual 32:9 curved screen up to 310 in.[6]
- **Side View** – resizable pinned window for peripheral awareness.[6]
- **Modular AI camera (XREAL Eye)** – adds 6-DoF SLAM, 12-MP RGB capture and future multimodal AI features (ships June 2025 EST).[8]
Software and Compatibility
The glasses act as a USB-C DisplayPort monitor for iPhone 15/16, Android handsets, Windows PCs, macOS, Steam Deck, ROG Ally and consoles via adapters.[1][6] Nebula provides a spatial launcher on supported Android devices. At Google I/O 2025 Google named XREAL an early hardware partner for the forthcoming Android XR platform.[12][13]

Reception
Early hands-on coverage praised the expanded FoV, optical clarity and X1 chip:
- **Tom’s Guide** called it “the widest, clearest consumer AR screen money can buy” and placed it on its *Best of CES 2025* list, while noting the need for a stronger app ecosystem.[5]
- **VentureBeat** described the X1 chip as “the biggest leap forward in consumer AR since tethered glasses became mainstream.”[15]
- **Engadget** reported they were “suitably impressed” with how the design solved common AR-glasses pain points.[16]
