Oakley Meta HSTN (pronounced “HOW-stuhn”) is a pair of performance-oriented AI-enhanced smart glasses jointly developed by Meta Platforms and Oakley. Unveiled on 20 June 2025, the glasses combine Oakley’s sport-centric HSTN frame with the camera, audio hardware and on-device Meta AI assistant first seen in Ray-Ban Meta—adding a higher-resolution 3 K camera, double the battery endurance and an IPX4 water-resistance rating to target athletes and outdoor creators.[1][2]

Overview

Oakley Meta HSTN is the first product in Meta’s new “Performance AI glasses” category. The device captures hands-free photos and 3 K (≈2880 × 1920) video, streams live to social platforms, plays music through open-ear speakers, and answers context-aware queries via Meta AI—all without an optical display.[3][4] By blending Oakley’s sports design language with Meta’s wearable stack, the HSTN is positioned as a training, travel and lifestyle accessory for athletes who already wear protective or corrective eyewear.[5]

Design and materials

  • Frame — Based on the HSTN silhouette and moulded from Oakley’s proprietary O-Matter polymer, claimed to be 25 % lighter and twice as strong as acetate while retaining flexibility for impact sports.[5]
  • Lenses — Interchangeable framed options include Oakley PRIZM tints, PRIZM Polarized variants, and photo-chromic Transitions lenses. Prescription inserts are supported at extra cost.[6][7]
  • Water resistance — Rated IPX4 for sweat, rain and splash protection, making the glasses suitable for running, cycling or golf, though not for full submersion.[2]
  • Controls & privacy — Capacitive touchpad on the right temple, a physical “Capture” shutter button on the left, and an LED indicator that must be visible for recording to initiate (cover detection prevents covert capture).[1]
